GRANTMAKING
Expanding our reach into the community
The Takitani Foundation supports opportunities that help Hawaiʻi’s young people learn, grow, and imagine what is possible for their futures. Our grants open doors to education, career pathways, leadership, enrichment, and innovation, while also honoring the values of generosity, hard work, and service that Mamoru and Aiko Takitani carried throughout their lives.

Questions
-
The Foundation’s grantmaking is by invitation only, and only approved community partners may submit a grant proposal. If invited to apply, you will receive instructions for submitting your proposal and required materials.
-
We generally get to know prospective community partners through introductions from organizations and individuals we know and trust. Organizations may also introduce themselves by submitting an inquiry through our contact form. From there, we take time to learn more about the organization, its work, and potential alignment with the Foundation before extending an invitation to apply.
-
Please contact us for instructions and access to the current grant proposal and final report templates. Templates are provided to approved community partners.
-
If you are submitting a new grant request, your final report for the previous grant should be submitted at the same time as your new proposal. The report should share program outcomes, the number of individuals served, and a financial accounting of grant expenditures.
-
The Foundation accepts grant proposals during Q3 and Q4, with two annual deadlines:
August 1
November 1
Returning community partners should submit their final report together with any new funding request.
