TAKITANI LEGACY SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

An outstanding graduating senior will be selected by each qualifying high school to receive a $3,000 scholarship.

Application Process

From this group, finalists from each school district, the Hawai‘i Catholic Schools, and the Hawai‘i Association of Independent Schools will be selected to receive an additional $2,000 scholarship. All Takitani Legacy Scholars are eligible to renew their scholarship for up to three years of undergraduate study, for up to $3,000 a year.

Accredited schools with less than 100 students enrolled in grades 9-12 may also nominate a student with the understanding that their candidate will be grouped together with students from schools of similar enrollment size and considered for one of two $3,000 scholarships.

Eligibility

Graduating seniors at an accredited high school in Hawai‘i who plan to enroll at an accredited or licensed business school, technical school, or community college. Your designated school Counselor must register your school by February 1.

1

Talk to Your Counselor

Confirm with your counselor that they are the designated school representative for the Takitani Legacy Scholarship Program process, and note their email address; you’ll need it to complete your application.

You cannot complete your application without your Counselor’s email address.

2

Register Online

Visit our application page to create an account and begin your application.

Register early, and use a personal email address — not a school-issued one.

Secure Two Recommendations

3

One from a teacher/counselor who taught or worked with you in grades 10–12, and one from a community member not associated with your school. Recommendations must be submitted in sealed envelopes to your counselor.

Complete Your Online Application

4

Upload the first page of your FAFSA Student Aid Report (SAR) with your SAI, the first page of your parent/guardian’s most recent federal tax return (Form 1040, SSNs blacked out, or an explanatory letter if none was filed), optional SAT/ACT scores, and a copy of your transcript through the first semester of senior year.

Blackout sensitive information before uploading.

Submit a Printed Copy to Your Counselor

5

Print your completed online application and deliver it to your counselor by February 1 (or your school’s internal deadline) for review by the selection committee.

Online submission alone is not enough — the committee reviews the paper copy.
