Growing Skills, Strengthening Care Together

Adventist Health Castle

At Adventist Health Castle, strengthening patient care begins with investing in the people who provide it. With support from the Takitani Foundation, the Building Capacity for Elevated Care initiative creates opportunities for nurses, nurse aides, mental health technicians, and other team members to deepen their skills through training, professional certification, and leadership development. From preparing new nurse aides to advancing specialized training for experienced staff, the project helps build a strong and supported healthcare workforce equipped to respond to the needs of Windward Oʻahu and the broader community.

That learning is also creating a culture of encouragement among colleagues. As Adventist Health Castle shared, “The current cohort of nurse aides has demonstrated a strong sense of teamwork as they move through their training together.” Participants help one another practice new skills, share what they have learned, and offer encouragement as they work toward graduation. Even during a period of leadership transition, that spirit of collaboration has helped the program continue moving forward, with three nurse aides reaching an important milestone in their professional development this year.

Through this investment in education and workforce development, the Takitani Foundation is helping healthcare professionals continue learning at every stage of their careers. The result is support that extends beyond an individual training opportunity—strengthening teams, developing future leaders, and helping ensure that patients and families continue to receive thoughtful, skilled care close to home.
